for the past couple of weeks callie had been feeling a little down and depressed, and it was all because of one certain brown curly haired boy - cooper. cooper and callie dated when they were fourteen, and everything was perfect. he even knew one of callie's deepest secrets, or talents. but things started to go wrong around a certain point of their relationship and they broke up. suddenly what was once sunshine, turned into rain. both of them decided that breaking up was the best thing to do. for a long time they avoided each other completely, and started writing songs about each other. the secret that cooper knew that nobody else knows except for her dad is that she is a musician in her own little way. she wrote a song called 7 things and somehow cooper found it and got really upset. at the age of sixteen they reconnected and wrote a song called before the storm which was pretty much about their whole relationship. after that they just avoided each other again.
recently cooper has got himself a new girlfriend, who is also one of callie's friends. which is kind of weird considering the girl code. but cooper has also started talking to callie again and telling callie he wants her back. but callie was so confused and needed some time to think to herself. her best friend lyndsee was concerned about her boyfriend jagger seeing another girl while they are in california, and invited her to come be a spy and try to see if jagger is cheating on lyndsee or something. so she accepted. this would also be a great time to think about if she wanted to get back with cooper, and try and get herself something she's wanted since she was a little girl - a recording contract with hollywood records. so callie packed her bags and got on a plane to california to try and get her life back to normal, or at least somewhat back to normal.
after getting off a very long plane ride callie got a text message from lyndsee that said she didn't need her help anymore. which was kind of a waste of a plane ticket, but kind of not. so instead of spying on jagger for lyndsee, callie made her way to hollywood records to try and get a record deal. little did she know things were about to get a little bit crazy in the studio. callie took a deep breath and opened the tall doors that lead into the building of hollywood records. she made her way over to the front counter and waited in line behind some other people to ask them if she could show some of her music to someone. it was her turn now. "hi, um..i'm looking for scott. i called him a couple days ago and asked if i could show him my music. do you know where i am supposed to go?" she explained. she pointed to a line of four arm chairs and asked her to wait there for a few minutes until he was done with another person.
about five minutes later scott came out of his office and smiled at callie. she followed him into a large room with a circle table in the middle. it wasn't a recording room or anything. just a room with a table. "so, you wanted to show me some of your music, yes?" scott said. yeah..ever since i was a little girl i've always wanted to be a musician. and when i found your website i knew i had to call and figure this out." she explained back. scott smiled again and took the book callie had in her hands that said songs on the cover. he began flipping through the pages and stopped on one page. he put his finger on his chin and started reading it over. "could you sing this one?" he asked. callie stood up and looked at the page. it was before the storm. oh no she thought to herself. "oh um. that's actually a duet i wrote with a friend.." she replied. "well, let's bring this friend out here. cooper right? give me your phone please." he said as callie slid her phone down the table.
"hello, cooper davis. this is scott from hollywood records. i am sending my private jet to get you right now, and bring your guitar please."

growing up, cooper bradley davis had always thought his life was absolutely perfect. he lived in the perfect small town, in the perfect mansion, and was living the perfect american life. his mother and father seemed to be in real love with each other, and they definitely showered their only son with love. however, when cooper was a mere seven years old, he got his first taste of reality and with that came the realization that life wasn't always the picture perfect scene that it appeared to be. after just seven short years of life, cooper had already learned the hard lessons of the dangers of looking through rose colored glasses. as a result of his mother walking out on cooper and his father when he was only seven, cooper adopted his lack of trust and apprehension of new situations, and especially his distrust of falling too hard over girls. he had witnessed how badly love could suck and the deep pain of losing the one you loved. from that cold day in december, cooper had promised himself he would never, ever love anyone. he was positive that he would grow up loved by his father, attend some fancy college, and then spend his years touring the world, living with his bandmates. never ever would he risk himself the chance of ending up in the same situation that his father had encountered when he was seven. of course, this promise was made way before callie rae mccarthy had truly entered and changed his life. even though the two had grown up together since kindergarten, at seven years old, the two had no idea that a mere six years later, they would be head over heels in love with each other, their own prince and princess, classic storybook love story in the making.
cooper could still taste the salty air of the atlantic ocean, could see the sun setting over the beach, and could smell the sweet and light scent of callie's perfume she was wearing on that fateful day when callie agreed to be cooper's boyfriend the first time around. the date was july 3rd, 2007 and cooper and callie had just finished their seventh grade year at the academy. callie and cooper had grown up together and ever since the fifth grade, they had always been casually flirting with each other, smiling and laughing together. callie would do typical acts of girly flirting, such as pretending to drop her books in the crowded middle school hallways and tossing her hair, and of course, winking her brillantly blue eyes in cooper's direction every time they passed each other in the hallway. cooper on the other hand, would pull on her hair, throw paper balls on her back when he sat behind her in math class, and would just in general pick on her. still, most of their flirting had been shameless and neither really thought anything of importance would ever come of it. this shameless flirting continued all throughout the seventh grade until the summer came around. school got out in the middle of june, and right after that cooper's family left to go to disney world and to go on a cruise for two weeks. the weekend that he returned, he asked callie to go with her to the pier at wrightsville beach for the day. on july 3rd, callie and cooper did all the tourist trap attractions they normally avoided. they played the games at the boardwalk and cooper won callie a huge bear that was almost bigger than he was at the time. they shared a funnel cake and cotton candy, then nearly got sick on the tilt-a-whirl. they sunbathed together, took a long walk on the beach, and then as the sun was setting, enjoyed their first kiss. cooper then told callie to wait a moment and ran back to the tacky seaside shop that sold little rings. cooper bought one with a purple stone, which was callie's favorite color. he then ran back to that spot on the beach and gave it to callie as a promise to her. within that moment, their universe was turned upside down as their relationship morphed from best friends, to a diehard, first love couple.
because cooper and callie were best friends before they were boyfriend and girlfriend, cooper always assumed that their relationship was perfect, solid, and immune to problems. with hindsight, cooper realized that that attitude was perhaps a bit risky and cocky. at first, their relationship definitely did seem perfect. they spent every waking moment together and when cooper was away from callie, he'd always be dreaming about her, texting her, calling her, or sending her an e-mail or instant message. the two even went on each other's family vacations and cooper often found himself fantasizing about growing old with callie, marrying her, and living in a little house with a picket fence and a rose garden. he even began writing many love songs about her, including the song that he wrote and sang to her on her birthday, called when you look me in the eyes.
they were so close that cooper was the only person in callie's world that knew that callie was a singer and songwriter. however, since callie was his first real girlfriend and since the two were both so young when they first began dating, their relationship was almost guarenteed to be faulted at some point. shortly before they both turned fifteen, the two began having problems and tension. it seemed that they spent more time fighting and yelling at each other than smiling and eventually they made the mutal decision to break up. they had both hoped they would be able to stay friends, but it seemed that for awhile, that wasn't possible. both changed drastically as a result of the break-up. cooper went through a very angry and destructive phrase of his life, where he would just randomly break and destory things to vent his anger about callie. callie dyed her hair darker and went through a goth stage, while both began writing songs about the other. cooper wrote shelf, can't have you, and move on about callie, while she wrote her song 7 things about cooper. right at the point when it seemed the two had reached a reconciliation, cooper found the lyrics to the song callie had written, which just lit his feelings for her all over again and made him even angrier, so they totally lost contact for awhile. at sixteen, the two reconnected and wrote before the storm together which helped the two sort through their old feelings. it helped them heal and the two reconnected for awhile, but then they spent more time avoiding each other. to fill the void in his life that was ripped open when callie and cooper broke up, cooper began dating his other best girl friend, kenya. cooper and kenya had also known each other since early childhood, but they had never really thought they had feelings for each other. they had actually never really flirted with each other at all even, so their announcement that the two were dating came at a total shock to all of their friends and family. of course, cooper loved keyna in a best friend/ brother/sister manner, but he truly never felt anything romantic about kenya. their relationship was based on a lie and was more about going through the motions. unlike cooper and callie's story which was destined to be legendary, kenya and cooper's story was a story destined to death and failure. everyone knew their relationship would fall, the only question was when would it fall. cooper had tried to fight the feeling of still loving callie and wanting her back, but the history and feelings were just too strong. cooper knew he was leading kenya on and would probably hurt her, but deep down all he wanted was callie. he had mentioned this to callie several times and in response, she had told her she was going to L.A. for a few days to clear her head before giving cooper a straight answer on whether or not she was willing to give their relationship another try or not. cooper was willing to give callie space and went about his weekend like normal. he took his dog, elvis, on a walk, went jogging, played a wiffleball game with his guy friends, and wrote some new songs. he was in the middle of his classic movie night with one of his best girl friends, allie reed, when his iphone suddenly began ringing conspiracy theory which was his ringtone for unknown callers. normally, cooper would ignore a call from an unknown caller, but for some odd reason, cooper answered the phone anyway. the call was from someone named scott, who wanted cooper to come to L.A. to sing for him. he was told a private jet was coming to take him to L.A. immediately. again, cooper would normally ask questions, but he felt like this would bring him to callie, so he simply told scott ok and apologized to allie for cutting their fun short. he ran upstairs and threw a few things in his bag, then grabbed his trusty guitar and hopped in his coupe, speeding through the streets to the airport where the plane was waiting. in a mere hours, he was stepping out of the plane and being led into a limo, which dropped him off at the hollywood records building. cooper was led into the recording room and when he turned the corner, he found himself facing callie. a smile crept across his face and he took her hand, whispering, looks like fate has brought us together, callie. Cooper picked up the headset and put it on, then waited until the background music began playing. as soon as he sang that first line, all the emotions came flooding back. the sparks flying between the two were too intense for cooper to resist. he reached the end of the line, and then pulled callie close and kissed her as everything around him fading. pulling away, he blushed gently and then stammered, scott, i'm sorry. we can finish the song now, if you'd like us to finish it?tagged callie/christine status complete! outfit in banner + skinny jeans. notes i'm so excited for this![/blockquote][/blockquote]

waiting for cooper was so hard for callie. she had a mix of emotions, nervousness was the main emotion. callie had not been face to face with cooper for a long time now, probably since the beginning of summer, and she still wasn't ready to see him. and scott just had to look at the song and ask her to sing it. stupid, stupid, stupid was what callie was calling herself right now. she should have ripped out the page and stored it in an old box or something. as callie sat in the chair across from scott the room was completely silent, and all she did was stare out the window. she was waiting to see some big fancy limo park outside the building and for a curly haired boy to walk out of it a guitar in hand and a big smile plastered across his face. it was the cutest smile on the planet. cooper rarely smiled with his teeth showing, but every time he was around callie his teeth would be showing. callie loved his smile.
hours passed, and callie was even fed at one point because of the long wait. but soon enough callie saw that big stretch limo drive in front of the hollywood records building, and cooper walked out of it. and what she thought he would look like was exactly what she imagined. a guitar in hand and that toothy grin. callie began to feel like her stomach was falling deeper and deeper into her body. she was so nervous, and afraid of what was about to happen. but then she started thinking about if she really loved him..and she did. he was her prince charming, cooper bradley davis. her best friend, first love, neighbor, the boy she wrote ten pages front and back of why she loved him, the boy who she wrote one of her favorite songs with, and broke up in the rain with. but right now at that moment, the sun was shining..and the storm felt finished.
cooper soon appeared through the tall door and was still smiling. callie didn't know whether to smile or not, so she just waved at him. "so, are you two ready. cooper, you do know that callie is trying to get a record deal right?" scott explained to cooper. callie nodded to show that she was ready and grabbed a headset and put it on. she felt a wave of shivers go down her opened her mouth and let the music pour out of her soul. "i know this isn't what i wanted. never thought i'd come this far. just thinking back to where we started, and how we lost all that we are." this song was such a true song for their relationship. callie connected her eyes to cooper the whole time that they were singing. there was not a moment where her eyes were not connected to his.
as callie was singing she was thinking about all of the great and not so great moments that happened with her and cooper. and she realized that the not so great things are just things you can learn from and change from. every memory she has ever had with cooper was flooding back to her mind. it was all flashing by as she was singing with him. "trying to keep the light from going out. the clouds from ripping out my broken hearts. they always say the heart is not a whole, without the one who gets you through the storm." the song began to get more powerful at this point. both of their voices were getting louder and louder. like they were telling a story and just reaching the best point. that was when cooper kissed her. the singing stopped, everything around them stopped. "no wait...i have something to say...i really am sorry for everything i have said lately..because the truth is..and i'm being honest here. one hundred percent. i..i loved you then..i love you now, and i'll love you always.." she said before a tear fell down the side of her face, and she smiled for a second before turning her head at scott to finish singing. "i'm flooded with all this pain. knowing that i'll never hold ya. like i did before the storm...like i did before..the storm.."

when you truly stop and take a moment to reflect on life, it's honestly crazy how quickly and easily life can change in just an instant. a mere thirty minutes ago, cooper was chilling out in his massive recreation room in the basement of the davis family mansion that had been in the family since the early 1900s. he was hanging out with one of his best girl friends, allie reed, who just happened to be the sister of his mortal enemy, jagger reed. allie and cooper only got to see each other during the summer months, since allie was a tourist to wrightsville and not a resident. cooper and allie had met a few summers back and had clicked immediately, though neither had any romantic feelings whatsoever for the other. their relationship was more like a brother sister type thing. cooper would go to allie for advice, and allie would go to cooper whenever she got stuck in a sticky situation. in fact, for the first half hour that allie had been there, the two had been talking about everything from relationships to family troubles while waiting on the china one take out to arrive. cooper and allie were both super skinny, which was a good thing because whenever they had their obligatory movie night, they ordered takeout from china one and ordered pratically everything on the menu. their food had just arrived and cooper had just popped in the hangover when his cell phone rung. alllie understood cooper needed to go out to L.A., so she agreed to them rescheduling their "date" when cooper returned from L.A. everything happened so quickly that cooper didn't really have a chance to think about the gravity of the situation until he had stepped aboard the private jet and settled into the seat near the rear of the plane.
as cooper buckled his seatbelt, his mind began to wander. even though the passenger area was cool and comfortable and he had access to listen to whatever music he wanted to listen to and even had access to a mini fridge and microwave aboard the plane, cooper bradley davis was about as far from relaxed as any person could possibly be. anyone looking at him could tell he was tense, because whenever cooper was nervous he would squinch up his eyes and would constantly tighten and relax his fists in a somehow mechanized manner. the first thought that crossed cooper's mind was how stupid he could be to agree to the call. callie had left for L.A. to clear her mind and have time to think about the decision she needed to make concerning their relationship. how in the world would callie have space and be able to make the correct decision if cooper was coming to sing their most intense song with her? before the storm was a song that basically told the story of their relationship, of their high points and lowest lows. cooper had a feeling that as soon as that background music began to play and their voices rose together, both would forget about all the bad stuff, would get caught up in the moment, and would want to get back together right then and there, even if that might not have been the most rational decision for both of them to make. even though he was freaking out inside and was beginning to second guess his choice to come on out to L.A. to sing for scott, he couldn't help but smile as the image of callie rae mccarthy began to filter into his mind and seize control of his body. even though the two had not seen each other since the beginning of the summer, cooper had memorized every blemish and curve of her body, every beauty mark, down to the placement of her freckles and the slight gap of her teeth. cooper loved her smile and was always pulled in by the deep blue, mysterious quality of her eyes. cooper knew exactly how callie's perfume would smell and he could even picture her wearing something like a cute top paired with skinny jeans. these days, that was the callie rae mcccarthy trademark and although cooper was a gentleman, he couldn't help but think that her ass looked pretty damn hot in those jeans. just thinking about the attractive physicality of callie made shivers travel up and down his spine and sent him into a cold sweat. based on his current appearance, cooper had a feeling that if the pilot had actually been able to see his lone passenger, he would have thought he was either crazy, a terrorist, or perhaps even both. reaching into his pocket, cooper fumbled for the scratched and worn green guitar pick that he always carried around in his back pocket. as he clutched it between his sweaty fingers, he felt an instant calm settling over him. even though it just looked like any old guitar pick, it was special because it was signed by elvis costello, his hero, and was given to him by callie on his fifteenth birthday, shortly before their breakup. cooper had held on to it ever since, and had been using it on the day that cooper and callie first wrote and sang before the storm together. clutching the pick, cooper closed his eyes and sighed, leaning back against his seat as the plane soared high above the texas plains, headed for L.A.
as the plane quietly hummed, cooper's mind switched gears from one girl to the next. his mind fell away from the brunette beauty, callie rae mccarthy, to the dark haired goddess he was currently dating, kenya. callie and kenya were best friends, so cooper was sort of breaking 'girl' code by dating his exe's best friend. kenya and cooper were also best friends and actually, as far as best friends went, kenya was pretty much his closest friend. she had a tomboy side to her and they both were super sarcastic. they had crazy adventures together and always swore that they would have each other's back, no matter what. even though kenya and cooper had been 'dating' since shortly before their sixteenth birthday, about six months after cooper and callie had called it quits, they never truly felt anything romantic toward the other. sure, cooper truly cared about the girl and loved her as a friend, but romantically, he only had feelings for one curly haired, blue-eyed babe named callie rae mccarthy. cooper was a gentleman and always strived to treat the ladies in his life with respect, so the thought of possibly breaking kenya's heart and ruining their special friendship was tearing cooper apart inside. still, he would hurt her worse by leading her on, so deep down cooper knew that it was truly best to go ahead and end the relationship with kenya. he was about to dial her number, when the pilot told him that they were only about thirty minutes from L.A. instead of calling, cooper pulled out a faded piece of computer paper and scribbled down some more lyrics to a song he had been working on, called hello beautiful. as the plane was touching down on the runway, cooper finished the song, then hastily stuffed the paper and pencil into his back pocket. slinging the satchel over his side and grabbing his beaten and trusty guitar case, cooper stepped out of the plane and climbed into the big, black stretch limo that was waiting to take him to the studio.
cooper nervously entered the looming studio, guitar in one hand, keys in the other. as soon as he saw callie, his toothy smile spread across his face and he whispered a soft hello. cooper nodded when scott gave them instructions and then turned himself slightly toward callie as she began singing. his voice rose to match hers as he sang we were young and times were easy, but i could see it's not the same. i'm standing here but you don't see me, I'd give it all for that to change. and i don't want to lose her, don't wanna let her go.. as they were singing, all the memories and emotions surrounding their relationship came flooding back and reached their plateau when cooper sang I'm flooded with all this pain, knowing that i'll never hold her like i did before the storm.. after they kissed, callie took his hand and spoke to her. as they touched, his skin felt like it was on fire. cooper nodded with a soft smile and gently wiped the tear from her face as he bit his lip and with hesitation, asked i still love you, callie. i always have, always will. the question is, do you truly feel the same? because if you do...i'd like a second chance. they finally finished the song and then cooper took a deep breath.
in the awkward silence that surrounded the room, he went over to his guitar case and pulled out the lyrics to the new song he had just written. with trepidation, cooper turned first to scott and asked scott, i have something i'd like to tell callie. do you mind if you give us some space, please? scott hesitated for a second and then shrugged his shoulders, sure, but when you're finished, i need to speak with the two of you. cooper nodded, then waited until scott had left the room. he took callie's hand and then spoke with a gentleness and softness that hadn't been there before. his cheeks were flushed and he was still smiling that ridiculously goofy smile that no one ever saw but callie. taking her hand, cooper sat down by her and picked up his guitar and began singing the song he had just written for her, titled hello beautiful. hello beautiful, how's it going? i hear it's wonderful in california. i've been missing you, it's true. but tonight, i'm gonna fly. yeah tonight, i'm gonna fly. cause i could go across the world and never be satisfied, if i couldn't see those eyes. taking a breath, he reached for callie's hand and then sang the last part clearer, stronger, louder, because in that moment, cooper davis was exactly where he was supposed to be. hello beautiful, it's been a long time since my phone's rung and you've been on that line, i've been missing you, it's true. but tonight, i'm gonna fly. yeah tonightt, i'm gonna fly. cause i go across the world and never be satisfiedd, if i couldn't see those eyes. cooper leaned in and was about to kiss callie again, when scott entered the room with a smile on his face. you two, have just earned yourselves record deals with hollywood records, he said, with a soft smile.
